REVIEW: Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara

I recently won a Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara in one of their twitter giveaways. I'm really thankful to have a tube of this because I heard that this product is amazing. I have always been in the hunt for a good mascara that will really coat my lashes and make it look thicker, longer and fuller. So when I got a bottle of this, I was excited to try it out.

The fancy packaging is encased in a plastic case that has a king's throne as its background design befitting the Lash King Mascara's image (see above picture). On top of its cap is an engraved "M" with a crown.

The Lash King Mascara has a total of 6g of product in it.

Once you open the cap, you will see the wand brush with tiny hair-like fibers. I believe this is the reason for the mascara's volumizing effect. This particular mascara is in black but Majolica Majorca now carries the same kind in brown.

My eyelashes stoop downwards so I really need a mascara that can give a good curl and is long-lasting.

Without mascara
During Philippine Fashion Week, I decided to use Lash King but only to my top lashes. Here's my lashes with the mascara during Day 6 of PFW:

Here's my lashes with Lash King during Day 7 of PFW:

with Lash King

> thick formula makes eyelashes appear thicker and fuller
> eyelashes look more pronounced in pictures
> gives lashes instant curl even without curling
> small fiber attaches to lashes making it look longer
> lashes look natural and not too fake
> makes non-existent lashes appear
> holds curl for the entire time you're wearing it
> easy-to-grip wand
> smudge-free even in humid conditions

> waterproof so it's hard to remove, must use an oil-based make-up remover
> dries fast so re-application must be done while its still wet
> some fibers may drop into your eyes
> has a "chemical" smell
> quite pricey - retails for P795 a tube

Majolica Majorca's Lash King Mascara does live up to its name. It is, by far, the best mascara I have used that really addresses the need of my lashes. This tube is surely worth having.

The Body Shop's Lily Cole Cruelty Free Make-up Workshop

The Body Shop has tied up with model and actress Lily Cole for their newest line of make-up - the Lily Cole Cruelty Free Make-up. The collection features limited edition cruelty-free make-up which means it has not tapped the use of animals to test their products and ingredients. In line with this new collection, The Body Shop has prepared an exclusive make-up workshop for its Love Your Body members last June 16, 2012.

Check out the pictures during the workshop:

The workshop started with the staff explaining the concept of cruelty free make-up and The Body Shop's collaboration with their newest endorser, Lily Cole.

The staff then chose one of the participants to be the model for the workshop.

Like any other workshop, we were asked to do the 3 basic steps - cleanse, tone and moisturize - before we started applying the actual make-up. The staff were very nice in assisting us throughout the whole process.

The first make-up used was the Pearl Radiance Primer. The product comes out as a liquid-y type of primer which is very easy to blend. It was applied to the highest points of our faces: forehead, temples, cheekbones, the center of the nose and the chin area. This was done to hydrate the skin and to help the rest of the make-up to last longer.

We were then instructed to use the All-in-one face base as our foundation. The Body Shop recommended to use a brush in applying foundation for a more even coverage.

Then, we got to use the Lip and Cheek Dome. There were two available colors - in pink (for fair skin) and coral (for olive skin). I used the coral one first to my cheekbones and the pink one to highlight the apples of my cheeks. The lip and cheek domes were very easy to use and the colors are buildable. Trivia: this was Lily Cole favorite item from the range!

The next step is to do our eye make-up with the shimmer cubes. The staff showed us how we can build the colors depending on our preference. For beginners, she recommended to start with 2 colors. I used the lightest pink as the base and the darkest pink for the crease. The colors are so vivid and shiny yet very natural which is perfect for a fresh-faced look.

We also got to try the Liquid Eyeliner in violet to line the top of our eyes. This is The Body Shop's only liquid eyeliner in this color. It had a pretty long applicator so it was easy to grip. The color looked really nice when applied to the eyes.

We also applied Puff on Radiance on our faces specifically on our cheekbones. It can also be applied to the brow bone and d├ęcolettage to have that luminescent finish. The product can be applied through the puff our through a brush. I opted for the latter as it had a more precise application.

To top it all of, we applied to our lips the High Shine Lip Treatment. I really liked this gloss especially its fruity scent.

Here's the final look:

The staff then surprised us with a mini raffle. Three winners got to take home items from the limited edition Lily Cole Cruelty Free Make-Up collection.

The Body Shop was also very generous to give out snacks, a loot bag and a P300 beauty cash to spend on that day.

Here's what's inside the loot bag:

Thank you The Body Shop for the exclusive workshop and the freebies. I really learned a lot and enjoyed applying your newest make-up range. 'Til next time!
